Dynamic Resource Allocation: DiffServ Border Router Design

چکیده
This paper presents our proposed Border Router Design as we decided to implement it in the NEBULA Project. The Dynamic Resource Allocation Modules here described will be inserted in the prototypal routers described in the other paper [5] so adding the necessary functionalities in order to automatically provide the “mission critical” applications with tool-quality

A CBQ-Based Dynamic Resource Allocation Mechanism for Diffserv Routers
Class Based Queueing (CBQ) is a link-sharing and resource management mechanism for packet networks. The weights of CBQ control the way with which the available bandwidth at the output interface of the router is distributed among the different classes of the input traffic. CBQ also disposes of rules for bandwidth borrowing based on a hierarchy of classes. In [1], we proposed a dynamic, self-tuni...
متن کاملA Traffic Control System to Manage Bandwidth Usage in IP Networks Supporting Differentiated Service
This paper presents a traffic control agent that can perform the dynamic resource allocation by controlling traffic flows on a DiffServ network. In addition, this paper presents a router that can support DiffServ on Linux to support selective QoS in IP network environment. To implement a method for selective traffic transmission based on priority on a DiffServ router, this paper changes the que...
متن کاملDynamic Map and Diffserv Based Ar Selection for Handoff in Hmipv6 Networks
In HMIPv6 Networks, most of the existing handoff decision mechanisms deal mainly with the selection of Mobility Anchor Point (MAP), ignoring the selection of access router (AR) under each MAP. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism called “Dynamic MAP and Diffserv based ARs selection for Handoff in HMIPv6 networks” and it deals with selecting the MAP as well as ARs. MAP will be selected dyna...
متن کاملApplication of Unified Network Management in LAN for Load Shedding
The differentiated services (DiffServ) model has been proposed as a scalable traffic management mechanism to ensure Internet QoS without using per-flow resource reservation and per flow signaling, but it sacrifices the ability to accurately configure the network devices and efficiently utilize the network resources. In this thesis, the DiffServ model is augmented with traffic engineering tools,...
متن کاملAll-ip Cellular Network Architecture for Efficient Resource Management
In this paper, we investigate 4G network architecture considering two underlying layers, i.e., PHY and MAC. We compare two models of wireless access network: pure all-IP and subnet-based networks. The pure all-IP model is simple and cost-efficient, but causes implementation issues of mobility management and resource coordination. In contrast, the subnet-based network enables layer 2 and layer 3...
